Chinese Factory Celebrates Reopening with Kissing Contest

A factory in China has drawn criticism for celebrating its reopening with a kissing contest, according to Sydney, Australia's 7 News.

The factory invited 10 couples to take part in the contest in an effort to “lift spirits”

A viral video of the event was reportedly viewed by 10 million people in 48 hours.

To be fair, the participants were separated by by a transparent piece of plexiglass, so no saliva was exchanged. However, the employees were still criticized for not maintaining the recommended distance of about five feet.

The organizer defended the contest by pointing out that some of the participants were actually married couples who both work in the factory.

“This pandemic has made everyone very tense,” he explains. “They haven’t been able to relax, and that might cause mistakes in the production process.”

“That’s why I arranged the kissing contest to make everyone happy,” he added.
